Couples, Portraits

Erica & PJ

I met Erica while attending GVSU. While we definitely preferred a good house party (usually complete with a deck of cards, tequila, and our only five friends), once and awhile we would be normal college kids and "go out", When we did make it to a bar, we would end up in a deep talk outside, surrounded by strangers. Fittingly, Erica went on to get her Masters in Social Work.

Erica is ALWAYS down for a beer & a good time. She is stubborn in the best way. SO SMART. She ALWAYS has your back. Passionate about what she does. A true read-a-holic (I should have taken a shot of her color coded book shelf).

Erica moved to Colorado for an adventure (and a job) in true Erica fashion. She was set up with PJ through mutual friends. The intention was friendship. However, Erica always knows exactly what she wants and it is clear to me that PJ fell into that category immediately.

THIS is where my Colorado adventure begins...

The Proposal

PJ and Erica played a game... they went into Target with a list of things to buy for one another - example "something that is your partner's favorite color". After arriving home, they revealed the items that they had purchased for each other one at a time. The last gift that PJ threw to Erica was her engagement ring.

Right after he proposed, Erica text me and asked me to photograph their wedding. AN ABSOLUTE HONOR! I was so far overdue for a visit out to her... It was embarrassing... BUT I decided to hop on a plane and change that for their engagement photos!!!

This duo took me to PJ's aunt's cabin. A truly treasured place by PJ & Erica. It was so special that I got to go see it and meet some of their incredible CO people along the way! We hiked, cooked dinner by head lamp, slept in bunk beds, and enjoyed some coffee in our morning booze. (Did I mention that there was no cell service, electricity, or running water?!) It was one of the best weekends of my life HANDS DOWN.

We are still waiting on the arrival of our friend, Arielle. Really hoping she did not get lost somewhere between the airport and the cabin! LOVE YOU, ARIELLE!

Enter The Dwyer Cousins

If you know me, you know that I CRAVE adventure. It must be something in the Dwyer blood.

This Colorado trip was LAST MINUTE. I was talking about it one night at dinner, my cousin overheard, and before I knew it I had THREE young whipper-snappers joining me for a flight across the country!

We drank in Denver, hiked the red rocks, drove way up a windy road in the mountains to sleep every night, visited St. Mary's Glacier, got caught in a blizzard in RMNP, and had SO MUCH FUN. We crammed as much as we could into a few short days, and yes, of course my camera was along for the ride and I DID force everyone to take photos.

On our trip we talked about our favorite places that we have traveled to, and in the same breath we talked about where we wanted to head next. I am so blessed to have had so many adventures in my life and great people to share them with,
